What are Varicose Veins?
While these veins often pose no medical risks, many patients seek to improve the cosmetic appearance of these areas, and they find greater self-confidence after treatment for these veins.
We offer several treatment options that will help you achieve a more youthful look. Patients receiving treatment for veins in these areas will see their veins significantly fade in little time, as they are safely absorbed in the body. Since treatment for hand, breast and face veins are considered cosmetic procedures, they may not be covered by insurance.
Hand Veins

These can be treated with phlebectomy (vein removal) or sclerotherapy, both of which drastically reduce the visibility of the veins with little discomfort.
Hand Veins and Skin Discoloration on the Hands
Unsightly hand veins and skin discoloration can make patients feel less youthful. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a low-power laser treatment that can lessen pigmentation from sun damage on the back of the hand. Dilated veins can be masked by injection collagen filler around the veins, adding depth to the skin and subcutaneous tissues which usually experience thinning with age. Fillers such as Radiesse® or Restylane® can be placed in the back of the hand for rejuvenation. This will help mask the prominent tendons and ligaments that appear with age. Eliminating pigmentation and plumping up the skin restores the hand’s youthful appearance. Another alternative to unsightly hand veins is to eliminate the veins by removing them or using sclerotherapy to shrink them in place.
How can I reduce the visibility of these veins?
Sclerotherapy is a simple treatment that can be used in the hands to allow unsightly veins to shrink and be absorbed. The procedure is generally very tolerable and causes very little discomfort. As with the legs, several weeks are needed to allow these veins to resolve. Some larger hand veins can also be treated with phlebectomy (vein removal), which is done under local anesthesia in the office with immediate return to normal activity. Both procedures require a brief period of compression and may be associated with some temporary bruising.

These can be treated with sclerotherapy through a quick in-office injection of a special medication that closes off the unattractive veins without harming your circulation. Several injections may be required to completely remove the appearance of these veins.
How do prominent breast veins develop?
Genetics, hormones, pregnancy, age, weight gain and breast surgeries can each play a role in the appearance of the prominent veins on the surface of the breast and declate. Visible blue veins on the breasts are typically harmless to your health; however, their appearance is considered unsightly.
How can I reduce the visibility of these veins?
Sclerotherapy can be used to treat breast veins and is a quick and painless treatment using a tiny needle to inject a solution into the unsightly veins. The solution will safely close off the veins that are bothersome, without harming the essential circulation in your body. The treated breast veins will reduce in size over time, eventually being safely absorbed into the body and no longer visible.
This treatment may require several injections to effectively treat the unwanted veins. The number and size of your veins will determine the number of treatments that may be required for the perfect outcome.

Face Veins that are considered smaller spider veins may be effectively concealed through use of the laser.
How do prominent face veins develop?
Prominent veins on the face, while not a medical issue, can certainly be a cosmetic concern for patients with noticeable veins either on the cheeks, forehead, around the eyes or on the bridge of the nose. Genetics, constant sun exposure, age, hormones, rosacea and trauma are some major ways in which visible veins on the face develop.
How can I reduce the visibility of these veins?
Tiny spider veins are generally well treated either with laser treatments or sclerotherapy. As these are cosmetic procedures, they fall outside of the realm of insurance coverage. Treatments are simple and require minimal recovery.
